Our Middle School Program focuses not only on academics but also in creating a sense of belonging, teamwork, and a deeper walk with Christ. Core classes include Bible, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies with electives in art, music, physical education, and Spanish.

middle school leadership

Middle School Leadership Team, MSLT, helps to encourage unity and fun and new experiences among the middle school students. Primarily responsible for planning monthly activities, contributing to the school yearbook, and planning quarterly service projects, MSLT is a great way for students to experience a version of student government before going on to high school where they can be active in the HS Student Council. This elective class meets several times a week and requires some outside of school commitments. This elective is open to all 6th-8th grade students with an approved application. Every year a great group of middle school students help serve their peers by participating!

8th grade experience

As the school year winds to a close and our 8th graders are finishing their middle school journey, we at ICS like to honor those students with a special adventure in Moab. This three-day trip includes camping, hiking, canyoneering, and white-water rafting. Incorporated into all of these activities is discovering the wonder of God's creation and bonding together as a class. Devotions, campfires, singing, and playing games all add to this incredible 8th grade experience.

Curriculum Overview

Middle school curriculum is designed to teach critical thinking and encourages students to ask questions. We believe that students who are engaged in their learning process are more likely to walk away with a deeper understanding that will inspire them to thrive in God’s world. Our curriculum aligns with state standards but also goes above and beyond that to integrate a Biblical perspective in every subject area. High academic standards are upheld in core required classes which include Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Bible, Spanish, Art, Music, Computers, and Health. Individualized learning experiences extend beyond these core classes as students are given a variety of elective offerings.
