Tim interviewed on the local news

Tim grew up in the Los Angeles area and graduated from Calvary Chapel Christian School.  Tim was the California Player-of-the-Year twice in his HS division and three-time All-State Player. He led his high school to its first state championship and enjoyed over 2,000 points and 1,500 assists in his four seasons. At the University of Utah, Tim played under the legendary Coach Rick Majerus and alongside #1 NBA lottery pick, Andrew Bogut. He appeared in three NCAA tournaments including one Sweet Sixteen. After college, he spent time playing pro-basketball in Finland, China, and Mexico.

Tim received a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies in 2015 from the University of Utah. For four years, Tim was the Assistant Basketball Coach at Murray High School here in the Salt Lake valley. He has extensive knowledge and understanding of the game and his coaching strengths are communicating and teaching those skills to players of all abilities.

Although Tim is passionate about basketball, we are excited about his passion to share the gospel. This focus is especially acute for sharing his faith, discipleship and working with young people. This has ignited his other God-given talent: leading worship. Tim is the Music Director at The Point Church and the Director for the Salt Lake City Mass Choir, a diverse, multi-generational group united through their passion to sing and their unwavering commitment to make God famous. Led by Tim, the SLC Mass Choir was birthed from a simple conversation. On a bus in China in 2010, while pursuing his pro-basketball career, God spoke to Tim saying: “Give this up for me, and I’ll take care of you.” Tim returned to Salt Lake City wholeheartedly agreeing to accept God’s plan over his own, gathering over 100 people to audition for the choir. The message was simple: share Jesus with the world by extending the platform beyond church walls, stages and their daily lives.

Tim feels a clear calling to be a part of the mission of ICS. He is very excited to pursue that calling for the long haul as the school grows and improves. We are looking forward to how Tim will lead our young men and women on and off the court, during worship and leading our athletes. We count it a privilege to have Tim join us in pursuing our mission of equipping and inspiring students to thrive in God’s world.
