At Intermountain Christian School, our mission is to be a Christ-centered learning community that exists to equip and inspire students to thrive in God’s world. Throughout October, Math Month and our schoolwide ALL IN Service Project gave students opportunities to see how learning connects to everyday life and how their gifts can be used to serve others.
Discovering Math in Everyday Life
During Math Month, elementary students were challenged to recognize and record Math Moments outside the classroom. Our schoolwide goal was 1,000 Math Moments, encouraging families to notice the math involved in ordinary activities like cooking, shopping, counting, measuring, and playing games.
Thank you to the families who participated! These experiences help children understand that math is more than a subject at school. It is a practical way to understand and engage with God’s world.
Putting Math Into Action Through Service
Our ALL IN Service Project for Primary Children’s Hospital brought students together across PreK through 12th grade to collect requested items for children and families receiving hospital care. Elementary students also applied their math skills by counting, sorting, categorizing, and tracking donations.
The project provided an opportunity to connect classroom learning with a real need in our community. Rather than simply practicing skills, students could see how those skills help organize meaningful service for others.
Growing as Servant Workers and Community Builders
More importantly, the ALL IN project invited students to grow as Servant Workers and Community Builders. We want students to recognize that God has given them gifts and resources they can use to meet real needs, work alongside others, and love their neighbors.
We are grateful to our student leadership teams for helping organize the project and to ICS families for their generosity and participation. Together, you helped turn learning into purposeful action.
Continuing to Learn, Give Thanks, and Serve
As we enter November and look ahead to Thanksgiving, families can continue finding Math Moments in everyday activities and encouraging children to serve those around them. This season is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on God’s blessings and express gratitude through love and service.
At ICS, our hope is that students not only understand what they are learning but also discover how to use that learning to make a difference in God’s world. Thank you for partnering with us to equip and inspire students to thrive!
