Encouraging results from the TrustED Leadership Survey
By: Dr. Toby Travis, Head of School
At Intermountain Christian School, our commitment to excellence extends beyond the classroom to every aspect of our school, including how we lead, serve, and support one another. As we continue pursuing our mission, "To equip and inspire students to thrive in God’s world,” we recognize that strong, trustworthy leadership is essential to creating an environment where students, families, and employees can flourish.
Earlier this month, ICS conducted the TrustED School Leader 360 Assessment (TSL360), inviting employees to provide confidential feedback regarding the effectiveness of our school leadership across six research-informed components of trusted leadership. I am pleased to share the attached Executive Summary of the results with our entire school community.
The findings are encouraging! With an impressive 85.5% participation rate, the assessment produced an overall leadership team score of 33.19 out of 40, with all six leadership components falling within the TrustED framework's designated strength range. Particularly encouraging were the strong ratings in Culture & Relationships and Flexible & Involved Leadership, reflecting the importance of relationships, responsiveness, and engagement within our school community.
At the same time, the assessment identified valuable opportunities for continued improvement, particularly in how we involve employees in decisions and organizational changes, communicate expectations, and strengthen operational clarity and consistency.
Our commitment is not simply to collect feedback, but to act upon it. The attached report outlines proposed priorities and an initial five-month improvement plan designed to help us build upon our strengths while strategically addressing opportunities for growth. Working collaboratively with our leadership team, faculty, and staff, we intend to establish meaningful action steps, monitor progress, and communicate improvements as they are implemented.
I want to express my sincere appreciation to our employees who participated in this assessment. Your willingness to provide thoughtful and candid feedback is invaluable. I also want to affirm the dedication of our administrators, whose commitment to serving our students, families, and colleagues is reflected in these encouraging results.
To our parents, thank you for entrusting your children to ICS and for partnering with us in this important ministry. Although this particular assessment focused on employee perceptions of leadership, the improvements it informs will ultimately benefit our entire school community.
As I have shared previously, our goal is not simply to be a good Christian school, but to continually become an even better one, faithful to our mission, intentional in our practices, and committed to excellence in all we do.
Please review the summary. We have much to be grateful for, and much to look forward to as we continue building on the strong foundation God has provided for ICS.
Thank you for being ALL IN as we pursue the future God has prepared for our school!
